Women’s Aid respond to the Prime Minister’s relaunch speech

Alexandra Williams, Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager at Women’s aid said:

“In light of the Government’s pledge to halve violence against women and girls (VAWG) in a decade, and the interconnections of women and children’s experiences of domestic abuse and many of the milestones set out by the Prime Minister yesterday, it was disappointing that there was no specific mention of this national emergency in his speech. At least one woman a week is killed by their current or former partner. Despite the urgency and severity of this situation, it is not being treated as a priority and more survivors are looking to us every day for support.”
